Prevention with Dental Cleanings & Check-ups
About 20-50% of the global population has gum disease, more than 50% of adults have been affected by dental decay. Don’t be part of this statistic by having routine care.
Dental Cleaning for Prevention
If you want to keep your teeth healthy for as long as possible, it is important to start the process of maintaining dental health early. If deposits like calculus, plaque, and tartar are left on the surface of teeth and roots, this can lead to recession (a loss of surrounding gums and bone). Over a number of years, gum disease can result in the complete loss of teeth. Most children and adults should have a professional cleaning every 6-12 months. If gum disease is not controlled, it may require more frequent cleanings every 3-4 months or even specialist intervention.
Benefits of Having Dental Check-ups
Problems may be starting even though you may not be having pain or discomfort. By the time pain starts, it may reveal are more invasive dental problem.
Having an exam every 12 months can help detect smaller dental and oral tissue problems before they become bigger ones. This can make the difference between needing a small filling to fix a cavity or waiting and requiring root canal treatment or even tooth removal. Dental X-rays are usually taken annually.
