Veneers

A veneer is like a thin shell on the surface of the tooth to change it’s contour, colour and volume. We use them to make teeth look better and fix problems like stains or small chips.

Veneers are custom-made to fit over the front of your teeth and are usually only 0.3-0.5mm thick. They can give you a brighter and more beautiful, radiant and esthetic smile.

What is a Dental Veneer?

A dental veneer is a thin, custom-made shell designed to cover the front surface of a tooth. These veneers are typically made from materials such as porcelain or composite resin, and they are used to enhance the appearance of teeth by correcting issues such as discoloration, chips, cracks, or even slight misalignments. By adhering these veneers to the teeth, individuals can achieve a more aesthetically pleasing smile while maintaining a natural look.

Dental Veneers improve your appearance

  • Colour

Veneers enhance the colour of teeth by covering imperfections and providing a custom shade that creates a brighter, more uniform smile.

  • Shape

Veneers enhance the shape and volume of teeth by providing a custom-fitted, thin layer of material that reshapes and adds fullness to the natural tooth structure.

  • Length

Veneers can enhance the appearance of shorter teeth by adding an extra layer that increases their perceived length and creates a more balanced smile.

  • Tooth Edges

Veneers can effectively fix a short tooth and make it visually match a longer tooth, thereby creating a more uniform and cohesive look for your smile.

  • Uneven Teeth

Veneers can effectively address minor orthodontic concerns by offering a seamless and consistent surface that improves the overall look of your smile.

Types of Dental Veneers

  • White Fillings

In some cases, an improvement to the shape of teeth that have dental decay, a fracture or a chip, a conservative white filling can be considered.

A white filling protects the underlying dentin and consequently restores a smile. The placed resin matches the existing tooth colour.

In some cases, this is a temporary fix or can be a permanent solution.

  • Resin Bonding

Resin Bonding (direct composite veneers) are an intermediate solution to restore a smile.

Your smile is digitally scanned and sent to a digital smile lab for design. A template is then printed and used to restore on your smile in a single appointment.

We offer mould-injected flowable composite resin for most predictable results.

  • Porcelain Veneers

Traditionally, this has been the most common way to improve the colour, shape and length of teeth.

This involves removing 0.5mm - 1.0mm of enamel tooth structure and replacing it with a porcelain material.

Porcelain materials are stronger and have better lifespans than resins., but come at a great cost. For those looking for the best that dentistry offers, look no further than porcelains.

We offer eMax Lithium Disilicate porcelain veneers.

  • Prepless Veneers

Prepless veneers usually involve removing no tooth structure or less than 0.1mm of enamel. This is a relatively new approach to conservative cosmetic dentistry pushing the limits of porcelain strength (eMax Lithium Disilicate).

It’s application requires careful evaluation before application. Treatments can include moving teeth into their correction position before restoration. Read more: Invisalign Teeth Alignment →

Smile Design Services

Restoring your natural smile is something we offer with our Smile Design services.

Smile Design is a multi-diciplinary approach to dentistry where we address several factors to improve the health and esthetics of your front teeth.

A Smile Design Evaluation would take into account:

  • Alignment of the existing teeth (also known as orthodontics) → Invisalign Clear Aligners

  • Colour of existing teeth (teeth whitening) → take home or in-office Zoom! Whitening

  • Contour or shape of the existing teeth (prosthodontics) → crowns, veneers or fillings.

  • Replacement of missing teeth → dental implants, fixed bridges or remoavable dentures

Once we review these factors, we can blueprint a dental plan to give you the smile of your dreams.

Veneer Maintenance and Damage Prevention

  • Cleanings & Check-ups

Veneers can provide many years of service but will require routine care to protect them from the adverse affects of oral bacteria and exposure to foods and drinks.

Cleanings and polishings can help prevent stain accumulation on veneer materials and natural tooth structure.

Routine check-ups can determine if small problems can be conservatively corrected.

  • Mouth Guards

Sports injury and teeth clenching and grinding can be detrimental to the lifespan of dental veneers.

Sport guards can help prevent injury to veneers from either direct contact or the collision between teeth (when you receive a blow to your chin).

Night guards can help prevent the slow and damaging effects from teeth clenching and grinding. These can cause dental veneers to fracture or dislodge.

  • Repair & Replacement

If you have existing veneers that have become damaged or dislodges, we can attempt to repair your situation. Sometimes, this is a short term solution.

We also can replace one or more veneers. This can be a more economical option than replacing all of your veneers. We offer custom shading by our dental labs in order to best match your existing veneer shade.
